“I just need more leads.”

I hear this all the time.

“I need to post more.”
“I should probably run ads.”
“I just need more visibility.”

And honestly, it makes sense.

Because when your business feels inconsistent, the most obvious thing to fix is more people coming in.

But before you add more to your already full plate…

Before you spend money on ads…
Before you chase more visibility…

I want you to pause for a moment.

And do something much simpler.


A Simple Diagnostic Most Business Coaches Skip

Look at the last week. Or the last month.

Now ask yourself:

👉 How many real conversations did I have with qualified leads?

Not just likes. Not comments.

I mean:

  • People replying to you

  • Actual back-and-forth conversations

  • People who fit your ideal client

Let’s say you had 10 of those conversations.

Now ask the next question:

👉 Out of those 10… how many became clients?

Maybe 2.

That’s a 20% conversion rate.

Now let’s play this out.

If your offer is $5,000:

  • 2 clients = $10,000

Same conversations…

But if you improved your conversion to 50%:

  • 5 clients = $25,000

That’s $15,000 more.

They shared what’s really going on.

And you’re almost sure they’ll say yes.

They say:
“I need to think about it.”

Or they disappear.

I recently worked through this exact situation with a client.

Her calls sounded great.
She had confidence.
She wasn’t pushy.
There was strong rapport.

But nothing was closing.

And here’s the truth:

👉 A good conversation is not the same as a buying conversation.

Sales is not about how nice the call feels.

It’s about whether a decision gets made.


The Real Problem Most Business Consultants Miss

There’s always a moment in a sales conversation…

Where the real problem shows up.

It sounds like:

  • “I feel like I’m doing everything myself.”

  • “I can’t switch off.”

  • “I’ve tried everything and it’s not working.”

That’s the moment.

But most people move past it too quickly.

They say:
“Yeah, I understand.”
“That makes sense.”

And then they move on.

But here’s the gap:

👉 You understood it. They didn’t.

Your client hasn’t fully seen:

  • what the real problem is

  • why it’s happening

  • what it’s costing them

So they’re not ready to buy.

They’re just… looking.

A strong business consultant or business growth advisor knows how to slow this moment down.

Because this is where the sale actually begins.


Why Explaining More Is Hurting Your Sales

Once that moment is missed, most people try to fix it like this:

They explain more.

“This is how I work.”
“This is my process.”
“This is what we’ll do together.”

And it sounds good.

But your client is still not buying.

Why?

Because they’re not in decision mode yet.

They’re still:

  • comparing

  • thinking

  • weighing options

  • wondering if they can figure it out alone

More information doesn’t create sales.

👉 Clarity does.

This is something every online business coach and small business consultant needs to understand.

If your client doesn’t feel a clear need to solve the problem…

They won’t invest in the solution.


The Hidden Pattern Keeping You Stuck

Here’s another subtle one.

If every sales call feels slightly different…

That’s not a strength.

A lot of coaches say:
“I just go with the flow.”
“I adapt to the person.”

But what’s actually happening is:

Let’s simplify everything.

Your sales process is usually breaking in one of these three places:

1. People don’t fully understand what you do

They’re interested… but confused.

They ask:
“Is this coaching or consulting?”
“How exactly would you help me?”

If they don’t understand the problem you solve, they’re not in a buyer mindset yet.


2. You’re giving too many options

Instead of clarity, you’re offering:

  • multiple pathways

  • different services

  • too many choices

And now they’re not just deciding whether to buy…

They’re trying to figure out what to buy.

That creates hesitation.

Your role as a female business coach or business coach and mentor is to simplify.

One clear path. One clear decision.


3. There’s no clear invitation to move forward

The conversation flows…

But then it just… ends.

Sometimes because you don’t want to sound salesy.

But your client doesn’t always know the next step.

They need a clear, simple invitation:

👉 “This is what I recommend. This is the next step.”

Without that, they stay in that in-between space.

Interested… but not buying.
