Let’s be honest for a second…

If working harder actually got you to $20K months,
you’d already be there.

Because most people sitting at $5K months?

They’re not lazy.
They’re not inconsistent.
They’re not confused about what to do.

They’re doing a lot.

Posting. Messaging. Selling. Showing up.

And yet… business growth still feels like an uphill climb.

So the real question isn’t:

👉 “What do I need to do more of?”

It’s:

👉 “What actually needs to change?”

This is something I see all the time as a business growth coach, especially with clients who are already in motion.

They don’t need more effort.

They need a different structure.

Because the difference between $5K months and $20K months…

Is not how hard you work.

It’s how your business works.

At $5K, Your Business Works Because You’re Holding It Together

At $5K months, your business is very personal.

Everything flows through you.

You’re the one:

  • answering messages

  • making decisions

  • handling clients

  • fixing things as they come up

And it works.

But only because you’re constantly holding it together.

At $20K months?

Your business works without needing you in everything.

And that’s a very different way of operating.

Let’s break down the shifts that actually make this happen.

1. It’s Not a Time Problem — It’s a Structure Problem

Most people think:

“I just need better time management.”

But when you actually look at your day…

You’ll notice something.

You start with a plan.
But then:

  • a client message comes in

  • your team asks a question

  • something urgent pops up

And suddenly your day becomes reactive.

I had a client say this to me recently:

“I sit down knowing what I need to do… but my day just gets taken over.”

And by the end of it, she had worked all day…

But nothing had really moved forward.

This is not a time issue.

👉 It’s a structure issue.

As a business strategy coach or business consultant, this is one of the first things I look at.

Because scaling isn’t about managing your time better.

It’s about reducing what needs your attention in the first place.

2. You Think You Have Structure… But It’s Actually Variation

This is where it gets a bit uncomfortable.

Most people will say:

“I do have a process.”

But when we look closer…

Every client is slightly different.
Every call is slightly different.
Every delivery is slightly different.

Why?

Because you’re trying to be flexible.

But what you’re actually creating is variation.

And variation kills scale.

Think about something like McDonald’s.

No matter where you go, you know exactly what you’re getting.

That’s not by accident.

That’s because they’ve removed variation.

But most service-based businesses — especially those working with a small business consultant or online business coach — do the opposite.

They increase variation.

And that leads to:

  • inconsistent results

  • no clear data on what’s working

  • a business that depends on you

Because no one else can replicate what you’re doing.

3. You Keep Adding More… When You Should Be Removing

This one is big.

At $5K months, growth usually comes from doing more.

More content.
More offers.
More calls.
More support.

And it works… for a while.

But it won’t take you to $20K months.

Because if your system is inefficient…

👉 Doing more just amplifies the inefficiency.

Let’s make this really simple.

Let’s say:

  • You have 10 leads

  • You convert 20%

  • You close 2 clients → $10K

Now you double your leads with ads.

  • 20 leads

  • Same 20% conversion

  • 4 clients → $20K (minus ad spend)

More effort. More cost. More work.

Now compare that to this:

Same 10 leads.
But you improve conversion to 50%.

  • 5 clients → $25K

No extra leads.
No extra ads.
No extra effort chasing people.

That’s the difference.

A strong business growth advisor doesn’t just add more.

They fix what’s already there.

4. Your Team Doesn’t Need More Tasks — They Need Clarity

At some point, you start building a team.

And most people approach it like this:

“I just need help.”

So they hire.

And yes, things get done.

But something doesn’t change…

👉 You’re still involved in everything.

They come to you for decisions.
They need you to check things.
They need your input.

So instead of reducing your workload…

You’ve just added another layer to it.

This is something I see often when working as a business coach and mentor.

Your team doesn’t just need tasks.

They need to understand:

  • how you think

  • what your brand stands for

  • what “good” looks like

Think about a company like Apple.

Even without Steve Jobs in the room, people could still make decisions.

Why?

Because the thinking was clear.

And that’s what creates real capacity.

5. Sales Doesn’t Start on the Call

This is one of the biggest shifts.

At $5K months, sales feel inconsistent.

Some calls go well.
You connect.
It flows.

And then…

“I’ll think about it.”

And you’re left wondering what went wrong.

But here’s the thing…

👉 The issue usually isn’t the call.

It’s everything before the call.

At this stage, you’re trying to:

  • explain what you do

  • explain who it’s for

  • explain the value

All in one conversation.

But at $20K months?

Sales start much earlier.

From the moment someone finds you:

  • they understand what you do

  • they see how it applies to them

  • they already feel the need

So by the time they get on a call…

They’re not being convinced.

They’re being confirmed.

This is a key shift for any female business coach or business growth consultant looking to scale.

6. Growth Stops Feeling Random

At $5K months, growth feels unpredictable.

Some months are good.
Some are slow.

Clients come from:

  • referrals

  • outreach

  • random visibility

And it feels like you’re doing okay…

But you don’t feel in control.

At $20K months?

That changes.

Your messaging is clear.
Your visibility is intentional.
Your channels are working together.

And most importantly…

👉 You know what’s working.

So instead of guessing…

You decide:

  • what to scale

  • what to improve

  • what to ignore

And that’s when growth becomes stable.

What Actually Changes Between $5K and $20K Months

When you step back and look at it…

The shift is simple, but not easy.

At $20K months:

  • your time is no longer pulled in every direction

  • your business doesn’t rely on you to figure everything out

  • you’re removing and refining, not adding

  • your team thinks and decides without you

  • your sales process starts before the call

  • your growth becomes predictable

In short…

👉 You’ve built a system that works without you holding it together.

If You’re Ready to Move Beyond $5K Months…

If you’re reading this and thinking,

“This is exactly where I’m stuck…”

Then this is the work to focus on next.

Not more effort.

Not more content.

Not more leads.

Just fixing how your business is actually built.

👉 You can book a sales audit here

We’ll look at your structure, your sales process, and your growth patterns.

And I’ll show you exactly:

  • where your business is still depending on you

  • what’s slowing down your growth

  • and what needs to shift to move you toward consistent $20K months

Because once this clicks…

You don’t need to work harder.

You just need your business to work differently.
